Motherhood is DEMANDING and comes with so many new experiences and new movements we have never done before. We carry car seats, load strollers, lift babies in and out of cribs, and tote our children up and down stairs— the list goes on!

On the afternoon of Sunday, May 20, 2018, a diverse group of strong women gathered at Arkansas Fitness and Athletics anticipating a fulfillment of empowerment. The workshop was led by “Sovereign” author and self-love activist, Erin Brown. As women, we can all think back to a time when we were overlooked, talked over, disrespected, and expected to sit quietly and conform. The EmpowHer introspective workshop centered on the importance of women being able to confidently set their own boundaries, find their voice from within, and use both of these as powerful tools to halt unwanted negative energy. We gathered together because the familiarity of each woman’s story is another link that bonds the chains of sisterhood.
Jim jumped on the opportunity to attend the 2018 Midwest Sports Performance Conference as soon as he heard about it. Basketball training is one of his passions and going to a conference like that can result in a direct impact on players and coaches we work with. In addition, Kansas is known for having one of the best strength programs when it comes to research and innovation.
The AFA team is always looking for opportunities to build relationships and learn from the world's best performance coaches. It plays a tremendous role in how we build the most impactful programs for our trainees.

It's was great to see Bret Contreras representing Arkansas Fitness & Athletics in this video. We gave him his Arkansas Fitness & Athletics shirt as a small token of appreciation back in October for allowing the AFA team to spend over 2 hrs in the "Glute Lab" discussing training, business, and life. While there, Bret was producing a video about the 10yr evolution of his Hip Thruster Platform, which led to AFA purchasing 3 Sorinex hip thrusters. Thank you again for your continuous efforts sharing knowledge in the strength and conditioning world!

Over the past year, the AFA family has been very fortunate to see the partnership between Jordan Carlisle and myself grow. Jordan and his business partner, Strengthen co-founder, Tyler Presley, initially approached me in the summer of 2015 looking for some feedback about their ideas to build software that could help me better engage with my trainees. About three months later, they came back with a few prototypes and Jordan and Tyler decided to join AFA as members because they wanted health and fitness to be at the center of their start-up's culture.
There are four simple elements that form the foundation for sustainable human performance: Mindset, Nutrition, Movement, and Recovery. These four components are simple, yet universal. They are essential at a minimum for survival. They are also the keys to unlocking optimal performance. Before we can begin upgrading lives, it's important to understand what the four areas. Here is how we define each of the four pillars of human performance.
The Mount Saint Mary Academy Belles are off to a 2-0 start to the 2016-2017 season. After playing at the collegiate level and serving as an assistant and freshman coach, she is using her insight to bridge the gap between being an underachieving program to a consistent contender in the 7A Central.
